Building A Career, Sheltering Those In Need

There was a time when Christine Deutscher, BA'16 thought she wasn’t “college material.” Though she did well academically in high school, the first-generation college student had a shaky start at IU Bloomington. After re-enrolling at IU South Bend, Christine thrived, meeting her goal to earn straight A’s and taking advantage of the high-impact practices IU South Bend offers.


WNIT Partnership Expands Raclin Audience

To make productions more accessible, especially during the pandemic, the Ernestine M. Raclin School of the Arts partnered with WNIT to create Arts@IU South Bend. The WNIT program broadcasts a Raclin performance on two days and times each month on channels 34.1 and 34.2.


A Road Map To The Future

IU South Bend’s new strategic plan was finalized in late 2021, providing a map for the campus to thrive into the next five years and beyond. The Campus Directions Committee shepherded the creation of the plan throughout 2021 with input from members of the campus and the community.

Deepening Our Understanding Of Educational Inclusion

Across the country from school board meetings to state legislatures, communities have been grappling with the topic of race and how it’s discussed in schools. Questions of equity, access, and how educators approach the history of racial relations in the United States have expanded an already-deep divide between Americans.

Faculty: Both Teachers And Scholars
 

IU South Bend faculty embrace their roles as both teachers and scholars. Because IU South Bend is primarily an undergraduate and teaching-focused campus, it promotes the engagement of students and faculty together in these endeavors. Faculty are not only instructors in the classroom but mentors in research projects, innovative endeavors, or creative productions.

Students Broaden Expertise With New Minors

IU South Bend added three new minors in 2022, open to all IU South Bend students, regardless of major.
