The journey of Dr. Bunmi Okanlami from her birthplace in Nigeria to her appointment as the chair of palliative care at Indiana University South Bend is the stuff of movies. It has drama, heartbreak, adventure, and joy.

"I graduated from IU South Bend with my bachelor’s in elementary education in December of 2011. In 2017, I returned to IU South Bend to earn my masters in educational leadership. I graduated in May of 2019 and became the principal of LaSalle Elementary for School City of Mishawaka, where I continue to work."

In a Giving Tuesday fundraising campaign to support student scholarships, IU South Bend alumni joined the Battle of the Decades, where our future Titans are the real winners. Generous and competitive spirited alumni joined the battle to see which of our five decades of graduates could raise the most money, and which decade could gain the highest percentage of participation.
