The IU South Bend Alumni Association honored seven outstanding alumni from IU South Bend in the third annual Alumni of the Year Luncheon on Saturday, April 14, 2018. The impact all of our Alumni of the Year recipients have on their respective communities serves as a testament to our mission as a university. Our honorees each exhibit the characteristics we strive to instill in our students.
This year's honoreesChancellor Allison Leaves Legacy
In his five years as chancellor at Indiana University South Bend Terry Allison leaves an impressive list of accomplishments. He was a champion for student success and focused attention and resources on retention and graduation rates. He was active and visible in the community and was not hesitant to share his views on the issues of our times on campus and off. He did the quiet, hard work of budgeting during the post-Great Recession decline in enrollment and revenue. And he kept an eye on improving the facilities, grounds, and even the neighborhoods around campus.

Riverside Hall Renamed to Honor Vera Z. Dwyer
The transformation of the health sciences programs at Indiana University South Bend continues through the strong relationship with the Vera Z. Dwyer Charitable Trust. The latest recognition of the gifts given by the Dwyer Trust to IU South Bend is the renaming of Riverside Hall at 1960 Northside Boulevard to Vera Z. Dwyer Hall.
