We are proud to share this new edition of Foundations where we showcase the amazing stories of our students, faculty, staff and alumni.
In this issue, our cover story highlights a major technological advancement on campus. The new Dwyer Healthcare Simulation Center opens to students in the fall of 2024. It will give them opportunities for training, that position them for success the minute they graduate and head into the local healthcare industry. We’re proud that 90% of our health science graduates stay in the region and that all our graduates will be trained in equipment that’s on the cutting edge of their fields.
Our women’s basketball team had an amazing season, clinching the CCAC Regular Season Championship for the second straight year and earning a spot in the NAIA national tournament for the third straight year. They were led by coach Steve Bruce who now has earned 300 career-wins. We also talk with an IU South Bend alumna who was just inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame.
Leaders from faculty, staff and administration have spent the past couple of years working on a redesign of our campus academic organizational structure. While the names of our colleges and schools will look a little different, students will still have access to the same prestigious Indiana University degrees as before. Another team of campus leaders has been helping guide us as we prepare to become a federally-designated Hispanic Serving Institution in the next few years.
You’ll go inside our campus publishing efforts and learn about student Titans who represented the campus to our nation’s leaders. Finally, we profile an IU South Bend
graduate who not only has launched a successful business but is now representing the campus, our region and all the campuses of Indiana University on the Indiana University Board of Trustees.
I hope you enjoy this issue and feel a sense of Titan Pride as you share in the success our community of leaders is making in this region and beyond!
